Pontiac Theatre IV is proud to announce upcoming performances for its first show of the 2016-2017 season, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Directed and choreographed by Michael Brody (Waterford) and music directed by Shari Fiore (Shelby Township), this family-friendly Disney classic will run on the Pontiac High School stage from November 11th through November 19th, 2016.

Based on the 1991 Disney animated feature, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle (Shay Curran, Ferndale), a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast (McKinley Shaw, Waterford), who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self…but time is running out. A fantastically enjoyable adventure, this classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters and dazzling production numbers, including “Be Our Guest,” “Belle,” “Gaston,” and the beloved Academy-Award winning title song.

Tickets are $12 per person, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at facebook.com/pontiactheatreiv and will also be available at the door. Group rates available upon inquiry. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Gleaners Community Food Bank and receive a free popcorn at the concession stand during the show.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast features a book by Linda Woolverton, music by Alan Menken, and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. A massive commercial success, the musical ran on Broadway for 5,461 performances between 1994 and 2007, becoming Broadway’s ninth longest-running production in history. Pontiac Theatre IV’s production is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Pontiac Theatre IV began as a summer venture in 1969 with what was then the Pontiac Parks and Recreation Department (now Community and Human Services) of the City of Pontiac. Over the years we have enjoyed the support of local business and industry, the Pontiac schools, and the City of Pontiac, which still provides space for storage and rehearsals. As a community theatre, the group welcomes the participation of all interested people.

Show Descriptions

Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS

Based on the beloved Disney animated film, and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score, Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS is a non-stop thrill ride of feline fun, complete with unbelievable twists and turns.

In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionairess wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it’s up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O’Malley, and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day.

Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS features plenty of exuberant group numbers and a cast that can be expanded by adding additional alley cats to the chorus.

Alice in Wonderland

Dreaming on a river bank, Alice sees a White Rabbit who is late for an appointment. She follows him down a rabbit hole where a Hatter, a rather decisive Queen, a thieving Knave, a couple of Kings and a host of others await.

  1. One of the unique things about A…My Name Is Alice is that each cast member gets to embody multiple characters. Can you tell us a little about the various parts you play in the show?

From band member to mother to old sweet Ms Mae, to board member… I get to enjoy a great show with my rabbi’s wife and say oh my god!!!!

  2. What is your favorite song/scene in A…My Name Is Alice? Why is it your favorite?

I love Ms Mae, she reminds me of so many women I know. I hope she makes you laugh.

  3. Tell us a little about your life outside of theater!

I have a life outside of theater??? I forgot I am actively working for the Hispanic Community with needs … I teach religious ed, I also volunteer for our church at many different areas. I also sing in the choir. My church is St. Damian’s… A lot of our Theatre IV members are members there. My husband Jerry and I volunteer wherever I can offer him up…lol, just saying. And I’ve gotten a lot of family members involved in theater, that’s what I like to do.

  4. Why would you recommend audiences see PTIV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice? More importantly, what does the show mean to you?

I would recommend this production to anyone that enjoys being on a roller coaster ride of emotions. We guaranteed to make it worth the ride….

Meet the Cast – Tiffany Lamb in “A…My Name Is Alice”

A…My Name Is Alice is heading into its second and final weekend today – be sure to come out to the Michigan School for the Arts in Pontiac tonight or tomorrow to catch the great cast in this fantastic show! Today we’ll be spotlighting Tiffany Lamb (fun fact: she created the fantastic show logo for us, shown below!).

  1. One of the unique things about A…My Name Is Alice is that each cast member gets to embody multiple characters. Can you tell us a little about the various parts you play in the show?

I get to play such fun characters, from Stanley in Trash, this guy comes through the office just to tease our heroine then leave her begging for more. I get to play a woman intimidated by her daughters kindergarten teacher. Then Ms. Chanteuse Rose – singing about dying for love (en francais of course) its like getting asked to play a version of Miss Piggy. I get to play a woman singing with her long time friend about life and a few more women too. Its so much fun to play such different characters, funny, over the top and sweetly serious. Where else do you get to do that in one show?

  2. What is your favorite song/scene in A…My Name Is Alice? Why is it your favorite?

It’s really hard to pick just one. I love playing these little characters who waltz through the scene but aren’t the main character. But Chanteuse Rose is so much fun with her monologue and really fun song. Besides I’ve always wanted to play a night club singer.

  3. Tell us a little about your life outside of theater!

I’m a mom of two great kids 6 and 10, have this really cool cute hubby, and I run my custom art business Epiphanies from my home. Creating everything from the A…My Name Is Alice logo to wedding invitations and beautiful art. I love being biking and cross stitching well… there’s lots of fun stuff I like doing when not rehearsing.

  4. Why would you recommend audiences see PTIV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice? More importantly, what does the show mean to you?

Simple reason? It’s a great show! So many different types of woman and their experiences. Even if you haven’t going through them, you know a woman who has. It’s like theater therapy!

Pontiac Theatre IV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice continues through November 21st. Visit our website or Facebook page for more information, and be sure to check back here often for more cast spotlights and show news!

Meet the Cast – Laura Johns in “A…My Name Is Alice”

  1. One of the unique things about A…My Name Is Alice is that each cast member gets to embody multiple characters. Can you tell us a little about the various parts you play in the show?

I play a variety of characters, a prude, a hippie, a graduating MBA, and a blues singer.  It can be quite trippy…lol.  It’s been really fun to change it up for every single scene!

  2. What is your favorite song/scene in A…My Name Is Alice? Why is it your favorite?

My favorite song is “Watching All The Pretty Young Men”…..being my favorite should be obvious…lol.

  3. Tell us a little about your life outside of theater!

There is life outside of theater???  I am married to my best friend and have two beautiful kids who are all very supportive of my acting hobby.  I work as a Paraeducator at White Lake Middle School, and also teach a Drama Intermural there.  I have spent the last year filming a television series, I Declare War, which will soon be broadcast on Netflix and have done a few other movies/tv shows  and commercials also.

  4. Why would you recommend audiences see PTIV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice? More importantly, what does the show mean to you?

This is a great show, done by a great group of women who have as much fun onstage as off.  There are shades of feminist views in certain scenes, and I think many people will identify with one, two or several of the characters.  This show is the first I have done where I sing the lead in a few songs, so it’s a little out of my norm.  I can’t wait for people to see it!

Pontiac Theatre IV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice continues through November 21st. Visit our website or Facebook page for more information, and be sure to check back here often for more cast spotlights and show news!

Meet the Cast – Janet Jimenez in “A…My Name Is Alice”

Happy Tuesday, friends! Our A…My Name Is Alice cast spotlight continues today with long-time PTIV member Janet Jimenez – learn more about her below!

10526183_10203487806903539_5425449541218776556_n

  1. One of the unique things about A…My Name Is Alice is that each cast member gets to embody multiple characters. Can you tell us a little about the various parts you play in the show?

It’s hard to describe my various roles without revealing too much. I like the fact that all of them are different. In one I get to play a woman dealing with a break-up; in another a cog in a corporate wheel; in still another, it’s a celebration of friendship.

  2. What is your favorite song/scene in A…My Name Is Alice? Why is it your favorite?

I have a hard time picking one favorite because I enjoy them all for different reasons. I guess I would say the song “Friends” has the most meaning to me. Life has it’s ups and downs but with a good friend by your side can get you through it all.

  3. Tell us a little about your life outside of theater!

There’s life outside of theatre?! No, seriously, “Alice” is my first production in a few years because I took time away to concentrate on finishing my bachelor’s. As a stress relief I enjoy karaoke. I also enjoy game nights with family/friends. I have more board games than I can count!

  4. Why would you recommend audiences see PTIV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice? More importantly, what does the show mean to you?

I would recommend “Alice” because even though it is centered on women, it’s really a celebration of life. There is something relatable for everyone in this show!

Pontiac Theatre IV’s production of A…My Name Is Alice continues through November 21st. Visit our website or Facebook page for more information, and be sure to check back here often for more cast spotlights and show news!
